In Kazakhstan, where cattle farming plays a key role in the agricultural sector, improving productivity and maintaining herd The customer keeps a large portfolio of information systems running. The hardware behind them is spread across geographically separated data centers and a set of smaller server rooms: servers, storage systems, switches and routers, and around them the engineering plant that keeps those rooms habitable, from power supply and cooling to air conditioning and access control.

Each of those systems arrived with its own console and its own alarm logic, and none of them shared anything with the rest. An engineer could read one subsystem at a time, and nobody could read a whole site. The brief was to fold the engineering plant and the IT equipment into one supervisory system, with a common data model underneath instead of a set of bridges between products.

Iotellect polls the engineering equipment and the IT estate through their native protocols and holds both in the same asset model. Power, cooling and access control sit on the same screen as the servers, storage and network devices they exist to protect.

Hardware and Environment

Chillers, air conditioners, UPS units, diesel generators, switchboards and power quality analysers on the facility side. Servers, storage systems, switches and routers on the IT side. Rack opening, temperature and moisture sensors in the rooms themselves.

Benefits

Operators watch every tracked metric across all sites in real time, and a value that leaves its normal range raises an alert instead of waiting to be noticed. Hardware configuration is adjusted on measurements rather than on a phone call to whoever was last in the room. Interfaces were built per role, so shift staff and management each work with their own view of the same model, and a new room joins the picture as another asset rather than as another product to buy.
