In Kazakhstan, where cattle farming plays a key role in the agricultural sector, improving productivity and maintaining herd health are essential for staying competitive. To support this, a digital livestock management solution was developed on the Iotellect platform, providing farmers with a mobile tool to streamline day-to-day operations.
At the heart of the system is the Tumar app, featuring with six key sections: My Farm, Calendar, Smart Herder, My Lands, Store, and Community. These modules offer everything from grazing control and animal care planning to professional support and community interaction.
Through the Smart Herder module and a GPS-enabled tracking collar, farmers gain:
- Real-time herd monitoring for improved safety.
- Alerts when animals leave the grazing area.
- Notifications of potential disease symptoms.
- Assurance that cattle remain within designated grazing zones.
By combining mobility, IoT tracking, and smart alerts, the solution helps farmers enhance herd safety, reduce losses, and make more informed decisions—all from a single, easy-to-use mobile app.
Hardware and Environment
A GSM-enabled animal tracking sensor monitors livestock location and behavior in real time. It stores up to 24 hours of data locally and regularly transmits activity updates to the cloud-based monitoring system, ensuring continuous visibility even in areas with limited connectivity.
