Project Description
The HOTI project aimed to solve a primary challenge in the consumer market: making home automation simple, reliable, and scalable. While most market solutions are complex to install and configure, HOTI provides an effortless way for customers to control everyday equipment, like lamps or air conditioners, from anywhere via the Internet.
The solution features zero-configuration “HOTI Agents” that connect directly to home devices. Iotellect serves as the central platform, orchestrating the entire system. Upon being powered on, a HOTI Agent instantly self-configures and connects to the cloud-based Iotellect server. Users can then immediately access their home equipment through the responsive and intuitive HOTI web interface, which is optimized for both desktop and mobile devices. For added convenience, each Agent also includes a physical on/off switch for direct local control.
Hardware and Environment
The HOTI Agent is a network-enabled 230V AC smart plug, complete with its own socket, built upon Tibbo’s EM500 module.
Benefits
Leveraging the Iotellect platform enabled the HOTI team to focus exclusively on perfecting their Agent hardware and user-friendly web UI. The system’s critical requirement for near real-time responsiveness with minimal latency was achieved effortlessly through Iotellect. The platform’s extremely robust and stable communication protocol ensures that all HOTI Agents remain consistently online, providing a reliable user experience across any type of Internet connection.
