Project Description
Saudi Aramco needed one dashboard over its facilities network and the sensors around it. Iotellect and its IoT gateways brought hardware of very different kinds under a single monitoring system. Water leak detectors, a fire detection system, temperature and humidity sensors, HVAC, UPS units and rodent repellents all report through those gateways, which run firmware written for the job.
The IT estate is read by the same system. Iotellect Network Manager covers servers, routers, intelligent power distribution units and virtual machines, and the VMS web interface was integrated into the same environment. Engineering plant and IT equipment end up on one screen rather than two, and the system connects deeply into the utility and networking systems already in place.
Hardware and Environment
Choosing Iotellect IoT gateways was a key decision. Fire detectors, water leakage sensors, rodent repellent dispensers and UPS units each speak their own language, so Technology Leaders used the gateways as all-purpose controllers. They collect data from the connected devices, normalize it, and forward it to the Iotellect monitoring and control system. On the IT side the system reads servers, routers, intelligent power distribution units and virtual machines, with the VMS web interface built into the operator view.
Benefits
First-line operators work from one screen instead of switching between consoles. Response time came down, and equipment downtime with it. The customer’s management team gained clear visibility of the engineering and IT infrastructure across Saudi Aramco facilities. The operator GUI is easy to use and flexible, and administrators have the tools to extend the system themselves.
